Making a Difference - Balloon Race

This year Casterbridge Nurseries Ltd supports 3 charities:

• Make-A-Wish
• Well Child and
• Tree of Hope

The group pledged to raise £30,000 by the end of the year to be shared evenly between all 3 charities.


Fundraising activities take place throughout the year and were, this week, given a summer boost. 

At Horseshoe Day Nursery and Preschool in Esher the children undertook volunteering activities as part of the “Making a Difference” week.  The "Making a Difference" week has been designed to contribute to the local communities where we live and work.  The week presents the opportunity for a strong educational aim to instill in children the neighbourly spirit and the importance of compassion and lending a helping hand to those less fortunate.

The charitable week culminated in a balloon release on 21/6/2012 across all nurseries to raise funds for the three nominated charities.

Children released balloons in the hope that they'll reach as far away as possible. The balloon release included a competitive element to excite the children. To win the competition’s prize for their nursery, the balloon that the children launched have to reach the furthest, we are now waiting to see whose balloon reached the farthest...

Through this initiative we are hoping to exceed our fundraising goal. We know we can count of the generosity of parents and staff who gave a pound to release a balloon. We'll soon be counting proceeds and keep everyone posted so watch this space...
